Spark15 President Dursa Mama Kadu has been elected to the first-ever Board of Voicify, the European Forum for Youth with Lived Migration Experiences.
Voicify is an initiative which fosters the political participation of Y.R.E.M.A.S.U.D. (Young Refugees, Exiled, Migrants, Asylum Seekers and Undocumented) led organisations from across the European Union. Voicify represents 35 member organisations based in 16 different EU Member States who work with tens of thousands of young persons with lived migration experiences.
It is the first-ever European self-representative structure for organisations led by young people with lived migration experiences. Voicify develops the capacities of its member organisations and advocates for their rights and interests at the European and International level.
In 2021 Voicify carried out the first EU-wide consultation of YREMASUD-led organisations, identifying key challenges to political participation for YREMASUD and proposing concrete policy recommendations.
The process culminated in the “Part of Europe” report. The report explains that young persons with lived migration experiences, mostly third-country nationals, are too often excluded from political activities in the EU and outlines a series of recommendations to local, national and European Institutions.
